I have a slightly different take on the insatiability of emotional hunger. I think a big part of it seeming to be insatiable is they types of food people reach for when emotional eating — namely high sugar content foods and/or processed carbs (chips, donuts, ice cream, cookies, etc.). Carbs are addicting — and sugar (king of the carbs) is in a lot of foods you’d never expect. A Big Mac Meal, for example, has 95 grams of sugar — that’s 19 teaspoons of sugar!
Thanks for reading!
That’s a very important and accurate take! I think I read somewhere that sugar stimulates the dopamine reward system in the brain! It would definitely make sense as to why the loop is easily perpetuated with the specific kinds of foods one reaches for.
Thank you! I’ll look more into it.
